ICAR-KVK CIARI Nicobar conducted a skill development training programme titled “Agri-Startups for Strengthening of Rural Youth” at the Community Hall, Chowra Island, under100-day action plan. The inaugural session was graced by Shri. Hilari Erick, Secretary of the Tribal Council, Chowra Island, who served as the chief guest. The event also saw the participation of all village captains from Chowra Island. Mr. Ajmal S., Subject Matter Specialist at KVK Nicobar, extended a warm welcome to the participants and introduced the programme, highlighting its significance for the region, particularly the potential of agri-startups in enhancing rural livelihoods. Mr. Hilari Erick inaugurated the event with an enlightening speech on the transformative potential of agri-startups for the development of Nicobar region.Village captains contributed valuable insights on the topic, emphasizing the importance of community engagement and collaboration in fostering a conducive environment for agri-entrepreneurship.
The training program focused on agri-startups, providing participants with motivation and innovative ideas for developing agricultural business models as scheduled by Dr. Santosh Kumar, Senior Scientist and Head KVK Nicobar. The event attracted 50 local youth, equally representing males and females, all eager to explore entrepreneurial opportunities in agriculture. Subject Matter Specialists Mr. Ajmal S. and Mr. Deepoo Meena conducted a series of technical sessions covering a wide range of topics relevant to agri-startups. These sessions addressed essential aspects such as product development, market analysis, business planning, and sustainable practices. More importantly, the interactive sessions during the training played a crucial role, fostering lively exchanges of ideas and solutions to common challenges faced in rural island areas. These discussions encouraged the development of new business concepts and their viable implementation in the region.This comprehensive training was aimed to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to launch and manage their agri-startups. By focusing on entrepreneurship, the programme sought to strengthen rural youth and promote economic growth within the community. The program was organized under the overall guidance of Dr. Eaknath B. Chakurkar, Director of ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair.
