Computer Literacy program has been organized for the Skilled Supporting Staff at ICAR-CIARI


The Agricultural Knowledge Management Unit (AKMU) at ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute conducted a training program titled "Computer Literacy for Skilled Supporting Staff" from August 19 to 23, 2024, as part of its Human Resource Development (HRD) initiative. The program was inaugurated on August 19, 2024, by Dr. Eaknath B. Chakurkar, Director of ICAR-CIARI. In his opening remarks, the Chief Guest emphasized the ubiquity of computers in today's workplace, noting that employers increasingly expect applicants to be proficient in basic computer applications and online tools. He highlighted the importance of e-HRMS for leave applications and SPARROW for Smart Performance Appraisal Report Recording, encouraging participants to fully engage in the hands-on training sessions led by experts.

Dr. R. Kiruba Sankar, Senior Scientist and Nodal Officer for Human Resource Development, provided an overview of the training program and shared information about future HRD initiatives at the Institute. Shri D. Karunakaran, Scientist and Course Director, welcomed the attendees and outlined the training objectives, which included fundamental computer skills, Microsoft Word, Excel, ERP, and E-HRMS.

The hands-on training was facilitated by Smt. Asma Bibi, Technical Assistant, Shri K. Ali Akbar, Technician, Smt. Nazneen Khan & Mr. T. Adharsh Narayana, Young Professional-I. A total of 20 Skilled Supporting Staff participated in the program, divided into two batches.
