Skill Development on poultry farming for tribal farmers of Lakshadweep


Regional Station, Minicoy of ICAR-CIARI Port Blairconducted a “skill development for tribal farmers through scientific poultry farming under Schedule Tribe Component (STC)” for the welfare of tribal farmersof Minicoy from 06th to 10th November2023.Speaking on the inaugural occasion, the Chief Guest Dr. Rahul Rathod, Deputy Collector, Minicoyexpressed his happiness on the activities of the Regional Station,ICAR-CIARI. He interacted with the farmers and shared his experience and assured assistance from the local Administration. The scientific faculties Dr. Gladston Y. and Dr. Ajina S. M., interacted with farmers on scientific feeding, prevention and control of important diseases, shelter, and marketing in poultry farming.Dr. Hussain (Retd.) Veterinary Surgeon explained about the diseases and nutrition during poultry farming and also gave an overview on variousgovernment schemes. The team of Regional Station Minicoy,gave hands-on training on Mini-incubator. Shri. Shareefuddeen Hassan, Senior Technical Assistant and Shri. Arif M.I., Senior Technician and the Coordinator of the programme informed about the technical know-how and do how to the participants in ‘Mahl’ (the local language). A total of 102(80 female & 22 Male) from 11 different cluster of villages along with officials of Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Shri Muhmmad&Shri. Jabbar participated in the inaugural programme. Thereafter 30 participants (7 male and 23 female) attended the skill training development training programme on Scientific Poultry Farming.
