ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair organized a training programme on ‘Aquatic Animal Diseases and Health Management in Aquaculture” for the Officials of Department of Fisheries and progressive farmers at Subashgram, Diglipur from 31-10-2023 to 02-11-2023 under the National Surveillance Programme for Aquatic Animal Diseases (NSPAAD)Project.
Speaking on the occasion the Chief Guest Shri. P.R. Singaram, Pradhan, Subashgram Panchayat appreciated the efforts of ICAR-CIARI to organise such programmes benefitting the Officials of Fisheries Department and farmers located at Diglipur and urged the participants to reap maximum benefit out of the programme. During the programme various aspects of fish diseases and its health management, role of Fisheries Department Officials in disease surveillance, disease diagnosis at field level and its management, disease surveillance and reporting system, fish nutrition and feed management measures and better management practices in aquaculture were covered.
During the interactive session & field visit, the queries raised by the participants were addressed by Dr. K. Saravanan, Scientist (Fish Health) & PI of NSPAAD project. 16 participants including the Officials of Fisheries Department including progressive farmers attended and got benefitted through the training programme.
The training programme was organised by Dr. K. Saravanan, Dr. J. Praveenraj and Dr. R. Kiruba Sankar under the supervision of Dr. S.K. Zamir Ahmed, Head, Division of Fisheries Science and overall guidance of Dr. Eaknath B. Chakurkar, Director, ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair.
