ICAR- KVK, Organised Kisan Gosthi cum demonstration of paddy harvesting implements and machinery at Nimbudera

Kisan Gosthi cum demonstration of paddy harvesting Implement/Machinery was organized at KVK Nimbudera farm on 24.01.2024. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. V. Damodaran, Sr. Scientist and Head in presence of Shri Bibhuti Ranjan Biswas, Up Pradhan, Basantipur and farmers and farm women and others. At the outset, Dr. V. Damodaran highlighted about recent advances in paddy harvesting machineries i.e. improved sickle, harvesting through shrub cutter, reaper and combine harvester. He has also discussed about organic farming, integrated farming systems and preparation of organic inputs/ bio pesticides etc.for promotion of natural farming in the North & Middle Andaman district. Later,improved sickle were distributed the farmers and the farmers and farm women participated in the demonstration and practiced themselves in paddy harvesting with the sickle provided by ICAR-KVK. The farmers have shown keen interest on paddy cultivation and demanded the ANR-40 variety seed for cultivation during kharif season. At the end, Er. Manoj Kumar, Subject Matter Specialist proposed vote of thanks to the participants. The programme was co-ordinated by Er. Manoj Kumar under the supervision of Dr. V. Damodaran, Sr. Scientist & Head and overall guidanceof Dr. Eaknath.B.Chakurka, Director, ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair.About 40 farmers and farmwomen participated in the programme.
