Computer Literacy Programme for Skilled Supporting Staff Concluded

Dr. Eaknath B. Chakurkar, Director - ICAR-CIARI, appreciates the outcome of the training


A 05 days training on “Computer Literacy for Skilled Supporting Staff” under HRD conducted jointly by Social Science Section and Agricultural Knowledge Management Unit (AKMU) of ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research got concluded on 21-01-2022.

Speaking on the occasion the Chief Guest Dr. Eaknath B Chakurkar, Director, ICAR-CIARI emphasised on e-literacy and the importance of computer & mobile technology in day to day activities. He appreciated the outcome of the training, wherein the participants could learn ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning). Further he advised to conduct such training programmes for other Skilled Supporting Staff also to make them aware of the usage of e –technology. He also handed over the certificated of completion to the trainees.

Shri. D. Karunakaran, Scientist and Course Coordinator presented on the overall conduct of the training programme along with feedback from trainees wherein it was rated as very good skilled development program.

Dr. R. Jaya Kumaravaradan, Scientist and Course Coordinator presented the report of the study conducted on the impact of CIARI sale counter on revenue generation.It was found that since inception on 14th Oct 2021, the sale counter could generate revenue of Rs. 610246/- in a period of 03 months through the sale of planting material (47%), farm produce (42%) and institute technology(11%) which was very much appreciated by the house.

Dr. T.P. Swarnam, Principal Scientist & Nodal Officer, Human Resource Development expressed her gratitude and narrated a worthwhile testament given by a Supporting Staff about the programme.

Shri. N Gopinathan, Shri. Lucas Minj and Smti. D Thangam spoke and shared their experiences from the trainees side.

At the outset,Dr. S. K. Zamir Ahmed Principal Scientist, Social Science Section welcomed and briefed about his experience with the participants and the programme. He described that the participants showed keen interest in learning and have potential to learn new things. He also added that the participants will now act as an ambassador to disseminate the skill learned to their fellow colleagues.

At the end, Mrs. Asma Bibi, Technical Assistant proposed the vote of thanks and coordinated the conduct of valedictory function. A total of 22 Skilled Supporting Staff (20 male and 02 female ) attended the program.
