Computer literacy for Skilled supporting Staff of ICAR-CIARI gets underway

Social Science Section and Agricultural Knowledge Management Unit (AKMU) of ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute is jointly organising a training program from 17th -21st January 2022 at AKMU on "Computer Literacy for Skilled Supporting Staff “ of the institute under HRD.

The training program was inaugurated on 17th January 2022 by Dr. Eaknath B Chakurkar, Director, ICAR-CIARI. Speaking on the occasion the Chief Guest stressed upon the history and evolution of office technology from the typewriter to computer and contribution of digital technology in increasing the work productivity to nearly manifolds than it was in 1970 . Besides, it saved lot of time for quality work. He advised all the participant to remove the anxiety and fear about learning to use computers. He also asked the participants not to hesitate to ask any questions arising in their mind during the Hands-on training imparted by the experts. In his concluding remarks he appreciated the efforts taken by the team in conducting very useful skilled development program which will pave way in streamlining the activities by the staff in this digital arena.

Dr. T.P. Swarnam, Principal Scientist & Nodal Officer, Human Resource Development gave genesis of training program and expectation from the ICAR. Dr. S K Zamir Ahmed. Principal Scientist and Course Director spoke about outcome and benefit of the computer literacy training programme for skilled supporting staff.

At the outset, Shri. D. Karunakaran, Scientist and Course Coordinator welcomed the dignitaries and briefed about the objective and overall topic of the training programme such as Basic computer fundamental, Microsoft Word, Excel, e-office, ERP, Market exposure, data collection techniques, compilation and post-evaluation.

Dr. R. Jaya Kumaravaradan, Scientist and Course Coordinator conducted pre-evaluation and proposed the vote of thanks. The entire inaugural function was coordinated by Mrs. Asma Bibi, Technical Assistant, AKMU, ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair.

A total of 22 Skilled Supporting Staff are participating in two batches following all the protocols of Covid-19.
