With an objective to inculcate Scientific temperament among the students ICAR -CIARI under the aegis of Agricultural Education Day an Open Day Program on 28th Nov, 2022 was organised for showcasing the technology in agriculture & allied fields.
Around 125 students representing St. Mary School. Govt. Sr. Secondary School Port Mout, Govt Sr. Secondary School Garacharma, Mahatma Gandhi International School, Ummat Public Senior Secondary School and 25 tribal farmers from Harminder Bay visited the Garacharma Research Complex.
They visited a total of 14 points namely Ornamental fish unit which was demonstrated by Shri. Praveen Raj J,Scientist, Dr. T Subramani Sr. Scientist explained about the organic farming, Soil Water conservation was explained by Dr. Sirisha Adamala Scientist, Library by Shri. Alex Praveen Barla, Livestock Farm was exhibited by Dr. P. A Bala & Dr. P Perumal Sr, Scientists, Integrated Farming System exposure by Dr. T. P Swarnam Principal Scientist, Scientific Pig housing by Dr A.K. De Scientist, Speciality flowers, Dragon Fruit by Dr. V Baskaran Principal Scientist & Dr. K Abirami Sr, Scientist, Horticulture Plant Propagation Unit was showcased by Dr. A. A. Waman Scientist, and Dweep Sale Point by Shri A K Tripathi Farm Manager. Besides the students were given exposure to Fisheries & Butterfly Museum by Dr. Saravanan Scientist, Shri. Shyam Sunder Rao Technical Officer respectively. Lastly, Smt. Gayatri, Young Processional – II showcased the technology commercialised by CIARI at Information technology Management Unit.
Dr. S.K. Zamir Ahmed, Nodal Officer, Dr. R. Jaya Kumaravaradan and Shri. D Karunakaran Organising Secretaries coordinated the visit with the support team Smti Asma Bibi, Shri Ali Akbar, Shri Suresh, Shri Amit Roy & Shri Saravanan of AKMU & SSS under the plan & guidance of Dr. E B Chakurkar, Director ICAR-CIARI.
